Question Anothe power steering question.

After my 97' SC3 is warm I get a slight whine sound when I turn the wheel to the right. After doing some searching, I figure it is the steering pump talking to me. I have only have 60k miles and the PS reservoir does not appear to be loosing any fluid. My question is how long do I have before it gives up the ghost? Suggestions?

Thanks

by not appearing to be losing any fluid does that mean that both there are no leaks and the reservoir is full?

dont worry it wont give out on you. however it will get louder and more annoying. do try to fix it as soon as posible. worst case it may start to be harder to turn in parkinglots and at a slow roll but at normal speed you are fine.

Talking Power Steering Noise

I had similar noise with no leaks etc. Changed pump and problem still there -the cause was the power steering reservior screen mesh...got dirty and restricted flow.
Suggest you remove reservior and clean mesh with brake clean. Also, tap lightly on ground to loosen deposits

Does the pump talk to you when you turn the wheel to the max and hold it that way? Or does it talk while you are turning the wheel??

Thanks for the input.
I’m going to start by cleaning the filter.
Where is it located?
Inside the reservoir?
Do I have to remove the reservoir to get to it?

TIA

I removed my reservoir and don't see any screen - not one readily apparent at least... Where is it supposed to be?? Is there some gasket I need to locate as well?
