Default 3uz-fe swap

Has this been done? I searched the forum and haven't found much, there was someone like in 01 selling a 3uz-fe from a gs430 for $7k but I assume with so many more 3uz-fe powered cars now on the road, the prices would have come down by now. Anyone know how much a usdm 3uz long block costs? The 3uz doesn't seem all that different than the 1uz so it should be an easier swap for sc400 owners than a 1jz or 2jz-gte and should be legal in CA since it would be a newer model year motor.

Well, doesn't have that much more depending on what year your car is... but i was thinking mainly for older cars with motors that are getting up there in mileage anyway. Main thing would be that it should be legal in CA, whereas a 1jz will never be and usdm 2jz-gte are real hard to come by. Comes down to cost I guess... not sure how much a 3uz-fe costs these days, but now that I think about it... since I don't see this swap much, I figure they're probably still pretty expensive.

Doesn't the 1UZ-FE have 280hp and the 3UZ-FE have 300hp? That's not "alot" more hp in my opinion, especially for the difference in price. I may be wrong though....

newer 1uz have 300/310, 430's have 300/325.

whether its worth it or not, its up to the buyer. Lextreme is a good place to go for a v8 swap.

$7 for the motor
$1-2k for swap

Tranny? Electronic? For the money spent, how much hp you gain? Total hp gain divided by the amount of money (time too) and you do the math. I think cams and headers will be better then the swap and alot cheaper.

as far as i know most older 1uz-fe's are usually dynoed at less than 200hp at the wheels but are rated at 250hp when new. so if its a 92' sc4 with high mileage like mine, it might be a worth while swap.

the power for 1uz depends on year... the 91-97 1uz came with 255hp with only about 180 or less making it to the pavement, whereas the 98+ vvt-i ones have 280, i never heard of a 1uz coming with 300hp, as far as i know the 3uz had 300hp when it came out, possibly been upped on power since then
if your thinking of swapping older v-8 for newer v-8, what about the lx/gx/tundra 4.7l? i bet its cheaper since there are probably a few tundras in the junkyard... isnt that the 2uz i would rather swap that motor in than the 3uz. it offers the potential for big hp and torque gains, plus i believe theres a trd supercharger kit for it, if im not mistaken ... the blast racing sc400 drag car uses the 4.7l v8, produces like 1800 whp or something like that, of course, it is a pro-stock drag car, and nowhere near streetable...

1uz, 2uz, 3uz ?

I'm gonna wait for 2020 to roll around and do the 9uz-fe swap and pwn you all.

Then I'm waking Chino up during daylight hours and racing him.

I am buildling one right now. Just got a set of custom pistons mate with Chevy H Beam rod. Check out the size of the rod between 2uzfe and H beam.

Hopefully there will be some major sponsor jump in and speed up the process.

1990-1994 LS400 and 1992-1995 SC400 1UZFE was "rated" at 250hp/260tq but typically make apx 175rwhp. I contend that these engines actually make about 230hp.

1995-1997 LS400 and 1996-1997 SC400 1UZFE was "rated" at 260hp/270tq and appear to be accurately rated with around 200rwhp.

1998-2000 GS400 1UZFE was accurately rated at 300hp/310tq and typically make around 235rwp. The LS400 and SC400s for the same years were rated 290hp/300tq. I believe the LS is accurately rated but the SC retained the early single tube manifold and is probably another 10hp under the LS and performance tends to back this up.

Over all from the cost/benefit perspective an upgraded "early" 1UZFE would yield better results that a 2UZ or 3UZ swap. The 2UZ is heavier being and iron block and only has 2 bolt mains. Its intake is also taller and may not clear the hood line. Any VVTi engine (1998+ 1UZ and 3UZ) would require complete electronic retrofitting just to get the basics working. Spend that same money on the early 1UZ and much more power and fun is available.

O.L.T. was only joking back then in his comment. There is of course no 9UZ engine. The UZ series had a VERY long run (from 1989-2013 model years) but they only made a 1UZ, 2UZ and 3UZ.

Replacement blocks and other parts are still being made of course but the 2UZ and 3UZ were the last of them in production cars worldwide.
