Default Cat. Clogged?

I have a '92 SC3 5spd and it is really sluggish upon takeoff. It seems fine after a few miles when it has warmed up. I checked the plugs and they look fine and replaced the rotor button as it was burnt up. The cap looked OK; I cleaned the contacts a little with some fine sandpaper. I was thinking the catalytic converter might be clogged up as it's the original and the car has ~125k on it. Any of you had any similar symptoms and/or solutions. I'm not sure what it could be. The air filter is fine also and I've tried fuel cleaner and 93 octane.

How's the idle speed? Is it normal?
If it's not that, then when you say it's sluggish on take off could it be that the clutch is slipping? Because it's a common problem for manual cars for 'slow' acceleration.

I thought it might be the clutch as it's the original one with ~125k on it, but the engine doesn't rev on takeoff which I thought would with a slipping clutch. It idles about 700-800, so that's about normal. It's almost as the car doesn't have but 1/2 of it's power until it gets warmed up and driven a little. Should I take off the main cat (it's the one coming off the header right?) and see how the car reacts? I know it'll be loud!

I purchased the car from the original owner and he said there has never been any maintenance done to the car other than a plug change, oil changes, TB, a battery change, and a few cosmetic things. Don't know if that's true or not. My integra had 170k on it before the original clutch was changed!

I'm thinking it's probably not the cats. My experience with cloggred cats (different car, not the SC), was that top speed was limited. Car was definately sluggish, but it would not go more than roughly 45-50mph.

Any ideas what it might be? Could the gap between the rotor button and cap be too large possibly? The rotor was eat up pretty bad but the cap looked OK.

Does it sound like there is any misfire? A bad rotor would cause some misfiring. Also, I would check the fuel system to make sure you're getting ample fuel to the intake. Start with the filter, then the pump.

I replaced the rotor button already. I'm going to try the fuel filter and maybe go ahead and replace the cap as well.
