Default Easy way to check between engine and tranny mounts or bad center bearing

Ok, so the vibration and sound made by a bad center bearing is very similar to the way the car acts with a bad tranny and/or engine mount. The car vibrates and rides rough as well as excessive noise.

The absolute easiest way to test if you have a bad center bearing or bad mounts is to go into a big parking lot and cut your wheel left 1/2 to 3/4 of the way and punch it. You may get wheel spin, but try not to.

If your center bearing is at fault the noise will will be there as you are turning. If the mounts are at fault your car will go from being noisy and have vibration to perfectly quiet - evan at WOT and no vibration. It will be perfectly smooth.

I discovered this by accident. I had to make a hard turn into a road across traffic and floored it. I noticed when I shifted the weight off the mounts the car very extremely quiet and smooth and when I straightened back out and the engine and tranny laid back down it was back to the vibration and engine noise.

By shifting the weight and the noise and vibration stopping You rule out the center bearing which is always turning and can bank on the mounts being bad.

Also, if it vibrates all the time no matter what you do above 35 or 40, check your flex coupler for cracks.

Center bearing is noticeable primarily when you are when OFF the gas.
