So your door handle doesnt work - DIY w/ pics
#316
So it’s 2021- and my ‘97 SC400 just developed this handle problem. I
If your outside door handle stopped working but the inside still works, the most likely culprit is the snap connector connecting the door handle and the rod. I was able to pick up a compatible part from Elmhurst Toyota near me. The part number is 69293-12030 (see update at bottom), cost is $2.20 w/ tax (depending on local tax rate of course).
* Quick note. This issue may cause your power window not to go down all the way, and if you mess with it, may cause further damage, so you need to fix asap!
First take off the interior door panel (make sure to get all the screws including the big ones under the armrest). Then peel back the plastic carefully so that you can reuse it and glue.
Heres a pic of the old part (middle) and new part from toyota(left), notice the plastic piece missing from the old part.
Heres the hole on the back of the door handle (left) and the rod (right).
Now, insert the connector into the door handle hole first! (Don't do it backwards like I did)Then into the rod and snap the bottom part over the rod after the bend
This is how it will look when it's done, a little grease is a good idea to keep it operating smooth.
Now just reassemble and your as good as new!
***UPDATE***
A piece of info for you-all. The Toy P/N for the clip for the right side door is 69293-12030. The drivers door takes the other one...P/N 69293-12040.

Second update. Apparently some dealers do not carry this part only and want to rape you on the whole assembly.
MCG33 has supplied a link for an outside source for a compatible part

(I'm not sure if this is against the rules, so it may get censored, hope not.)
