exactly we are talking about the uz engine here and also the discussion was simply over power gain there was never an arguement over price and cost effcientcy maybe some of you should read the thread before posting something. at either rate it is a simple discussion not any kind of arguement over something

ive got one with an injen and the stocker bfi we should get together some time and get it dyno'd
if u can get me on there for free ill come down one weekend if not theres a place here i can get it done for free just takes some time because they are always busy

Injen intake alone will not out perform the BFI intake, however, with a Rod Millen big filter and channeled air flow intake as well as air breaker inserts, I think it will do better or as good... Any intake mod will not gain you more then 5 horsepower maybe 10hp if your lucky with a cold metal box compartment. intake and the works.. BFI is as good as any intake out there....combinations can compete though.... You want intake results find a way to modify your MAF, that is your most restrictive part of your intake...

BFI intake can be found on planetsoarer.com... All it is is a modification and alteration of your stock intake design. You basically cut out bigger holes, channel the airflow coming in under the headlight to flow better, basic and cheap mods.....It is an effective intake design and a cost that is close to nothing....(no bling, bling with the BFI) It pretty much retains the stock look...
Note- I don't like the plywood to channel the air in with the BFI...It will rot away over time..I would suggest using sheet metal or plastic sheeting to channel the airflow and not plywood like the BFI intake suggests....
The absolute best intake design I think would be to cut a hole directly above the passenger side front wheel, channel that airflow directly into the "insulated" intake and use a water collector and highflow filter and the air will be pushed in from the wheel rotation...Proven effective in the smaller import cars... I don't trust it in heavy rains though...That is why I went with my design...

i actually took off my injen intake and went with a semi bfi cone filter setup. one big thing i noticed especially after long drives is that the injen piping was literally hot to the touch whereas the stock tubing is still cool enough to touch. i tried to remedy this by heatwrapping the intake pipe but then at that point, it all became moot to me. in addition, i wanted to get back the resonator after reading up on it's function. now i have my stock airbox in but the rear hacked up to fit in the maf adapter and a cone filter inside, with 4" laundry duct tubing going from the pass. fog light area right to the cone. my impression is that throttle response is better from stops now. if i had to do it all over again, i would not have gotten the injen.

Good point Lexant...Never thought of the metal injen intake tube heating up...Being so close to the motor I can see that happening in comparison to the rubber stock tube....Wow, maybe the injen snorkel tubes do suck.....I am going to test your theory....If the tube gets hot that heats up the intake air flow which robs you of HP's... I will check that.....
