1JZ Swap Done! (Pictures Inside)
The 1JZ is in and running! Started on it last Monday, and drove it Wednesday night. The engine started right up on the first attempt, and the setup is running beautifully. I had a bit of an issue bypassing the 1JZ's auto interlock, and ended up running a new line from one of the gray connectors to the 8-pin connector which plugs in near the battery. All in all, everything works - including the coolant gauge (after running the resistor) - with the exception of the tach...I still need to order the MSD adapter.
Extending the wire harness wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. It took the better part of 6 hours. Instead of running completely new shielded wire for the knock sensors, I used shielded wire sections from "left over" Nissan KA24E harnesses. Experience with the quirks of Haltech E6X CAS wiring helped here.
Daaamn the car is fast now...not quite as crazy as my 7, but still pretty damn quick. Full throttle in first results in crazy wheelspin, and so does 2nd if I'm in any kind of turn. Pulls like mad all the way to the speed limiter...gonna have to get rid of that hehe. Anyways here's some pictures...

Thanks for all the compliments! I still can't get over how "civilized" the car is, despite the jump in power. I guess I've been jaded by my 7s, where when you get a lot of power, the car tends to stink and idle like a muscle car.
tmf2004, click here for more pics of the car. I'm still running the stock tranny, but will be replacing it as one of my next mods.

I got the clip from G-Speed in So Cal. I live in the Palm Springs area, but did the swap at my buddies shop in Moorpark.
The only mod so far is a test pipe. I plan on opening the exhaust up a little more, putting in a FMIC, and upping the boost. The eventual goal is replacing the tranny, turbos, going standalone, and attempting to hit the 400 whp mark. We'll see how close I get...the goal is for the car to be powerful, but still get me back and forth to work. And considering how I managed that in my quirky FD, I'm sure it'll be straight forward with this car.
