Default V8 Swap for SC400

With the availablity of a new V8, 4.6L (4UZFE?) in the new LS460, this leaves an interesting possiblity of a V8 swap for our aging SC400. The possiblity of getting near 400 hp with a stock motor gets the gears turning. Of course the cost of one of these is going to be pretty hefty initially, but still, posibilities!

Cool

Why swap when you can twin or single the 1UZ for more power and still be reliable for less money? Reliability leaning on how much power you wanted to make of course? Just an opinion though

or just swap in the 98+ v8, add the headers, good exhaust and intake with an safc, 3.76 diff and that should be plenty fast too.

Default lextreme

Some interesting discussions on lextreme about similar topics.

I would just work the 1UZ and be done. Unless your searching for really big HP, then it may be easier and less expensive to go the swap route. I donno, I opted just to work up the 1UZ.

Well the thought of swapping into the new engine is appealing I think. A new engine already at 400 horses straight from lexus I think is more reliable than turboing our engine. Of course its going to be slower than turbo but its suppose to be... Its a stock engine.to ease my mind and not worry about problems after the turbo and to have that much horses. Its def a good thought. No offense to the ones with turbo, because I want to turbo my car, but just imagine how soft and smooth the rides going to be especially with 400 horses. If someone does do it though, I guess their car would be an sc 400.

From what research I have done the intake runners on the 2UZ + are more boost friendly (oval) than our 1UZ SC's - kinda, well odd.

If you have the $$ to spend why not. Post some pics.

Dibs on spare 1UZ parts...
