What will I have to do to a stock SC300 on the tranny to get it to support 400hp? Racing clutch, stronger driveshaft....?

 

you will need stronger clutch packs, bore a couple orifices and a full overhaul to make sure the rest of the trans is in good shape. Then you will need to increase the line pressure to sharpen shifts so that the new clutches grab and hold the power.

 

cliffnotes version= new tq converter or a dragon tq con. and a shift kit, and play nice

 

So tops im looking at about 3k for all of this...? I have no idea how much a shift kit is....

 

You can gm tranny swap for less then 2k (th700r4)

I've got a 2jz-gte Twin Turbo Aristo auto tranny that is more than capable of 400hp. The tranny is available, the engine is now in my SC300 5sp, and isstunningly clean and in great condition, probably very low 20k miles from all appearances. The auto tranny should be in equally good condition and is a direct bolt up, perhaps the coupler might have to be changed, but at its heart, it could serve you well. The engine in the pix is now the one in my avatar, the tranny is out, ready to go.

 

im running an auto in my sc3 turbo...i have a shift kit, upgraded stock tc, tranny cooler...and using mobil 1 atf synthetic....
i dont beat on the tranny hard...i never run race after race..i allways give the tranny time to cool down...but im pushing 15psi on a t60 and about 400 rwhp.......been this way for a year or so and holding strong.....i do have 2 spare trannys in the garage too

scoupe's tt tranny will not work unless you go standalone computer.
