Passing emissions with 1jz
Im still researching on the 1jz and the pros and cons and I came across the cons of not passing emissions? But almost everyone has no cat that has the 1jz. Does anyone have a cat (stock or hi flow) and is able to pass emissions that is NOT in california?
ps. my car is not ny state registered either - georgia

1JZGTE does not have EGR, exhaust gas recirculation. Its not built into the head, exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, etc. Can not be swapped. The motor was never designed to pass US emission laws.

I Passed emissions once with a 1989 Starion ESir, Big turbo 4'5" down pipe, to 4" out the back of the car, no cats, no mufflers...I basically ran primo gas, ran the hell out of it so it was real hot and it passed, I think the fact that it was so hot, burned everything up!!
Or that mitsu had one clean enviro friendly motor!!!
