R154 Driveshaft.

R154 Driveshaft.
I'm making this post because there HAS to be an easier way.
I have a 1995 soarer R154 tranny, and my car was originally a 5spd, but i am using a auto tailshaft, and a mkiii R154 front shaft.
The local place wants me to measure, and i really don't like this, since the precision on a driveshaft has to be great. I can't find a shop that i'd be able to take the car to, and give them something to work on, rather just places that want me to come w/ measurements of everything.
curious for those of you that ARE running a r154 already, using the same set-up for the most part, what you did for your driveshaft. if you did in fact go custom, is there any chance that the place you had it done at would be able to make another?
i know this post is bad, but i'm needing a quick solution.

i dont see the issue with measuring, its the only way to fit perfect like you want. I would rather measure and give them the specs of the exact measurement they want instead of some shop half-assing it and guessing. You should expect to have to measure the length it will need since length can varry a few mm's. The shop should tell you what you are supposed to measure between, most likely flange from the trans output to the face of the pumpkin housing, but it depends on the shop

try the drive shaft shop: http://www.driveshaftshop.com/
They seem to have the knowledge and the techniques.
good luck

this might end up being a stupid quest, but am i okay to use an auto tail-shaft?
i'd like to give my stock 5-spd driveshaft to my friend, because he needs it.
curious since one is shorter than the other, doe this affect where the driveshaft is being supported between the yokes? basically, just a simple yes/no to being able to use an auto tailshaft.

okay, had everything out today, the rears of the auto and manual sc driveshafts are the same.
the supra front is slightly shorter than w58, and auto is slightly shorter than supra.
we actually aren't manking a driveshaft, it appears that you can use a Supra front and w58 or auto rear as a combo driveshaft and only need to modify the hangers for the center bearing. should have this all done by Monday.
but for now it's engine time...

defn get pics up of the hanger modification, i would love to see how yours ends up. for the one i did on the write up of moding the mk3 we used a custom piece but id like to see this work for an even less expensive route for the ds. great info

I'm helping him with the swap, what we eventually did was bolt up the bearing from the auto front shaft to the supra auto front shaft .
the bearing i am talking about it, is where it bolts up the center section to the car, its the bearing with the bracket around it, direct bolt up.
no pics yet tho, we were rushing to get it done.

no pics...not sure when i'll be back under teh car
the center bearing from the w58 works, we took it off and put it on the R154 mkiii supra front, and then used the rear from an auto(w58), which is the same as a manual(w58), but Slammer HAD to take mine, lol.
the mkiii is a lot thicker than the sc's which has me a bit worried, since the whole rear is skinny.
but yea, it works...everything was running fine today until all the brake fluid poured out

im glad to hear everything is working. i wouldnt worry too much about the rear shaft as it shouldnt cause too many problems, maybe down the road with a single you might want to consider a 1 piece but under 400 hp u should be good. sorry to hear about the brake fluid but that should be nothing compared to getting the trans in and working.
