If you didnt notice the engine has a temp sensor for the ecu and a sep for the gauge . replacing the 1jz with the 2jz will do nothing to the ecu .

So why is everyone getting all uptight about the stock temp gauge? It only tells you when the engine is cold, and when its hot. If your running a 1JZGTE and you base your engines health just off that, god bless.

Default jdm cluster

What i dont understand is, why no one yet has got a Soarer cluster to work in a SC300? If we can make SC300 clusters work with the Soarer ECU, why cant anyone get a Soarer Cluster to work with a Soarer ECU? Its probably just an issue of running power correctly to it. The gauges read the signal all the same way.
I have the jdm cluster and was in the works of figuring it out when I decided no too cuz the usdm gauges matched my defi gauges

Given the right tools, i could probably have it worked out in a day or two. Seriously, it cant be hard to do.. at all.

ever thought that not everyone wants aftermarket gauges on there car. The car can still over heat with a healthly engine just ask some of the MK4 guys when they take a long trip.
btw thanks for clearing up what the stock temp gauge does.

as far as the gauges go, thats their problem if they dont want an aftermarket gauge(s), their investment depends on them. The tach mod doesnt matter anyways, it reads 800rpm off @ redline. Useless for a M/T car or modified 1JZGTE where RPM matters.

The best tach mod would be to replace all gauges with aftermarket

Did you forget the title and purpose of this thread ?
Lemme refresh your memory "jzgte temp and tach fix"
NOT "Aftermarket gauge alternative for uptight people"
maybe you should start another thread on how to install a aftermarket water and tach .
This one remains on information to get the OEM to work so stay focused
I know your capable of helping out here, so leave the dumb remarks outside.

Not that I have or am doing the 1jz or 2jzget swap, but if/when I do, I'd like to keep the interior of my car as OEM as possible; I'd throw in a few after market gauges, but the more necessary ones like boost, oil psi, and oil temp. That's jsut me, though.

Any word on this? 4 pages and no confirmed info except from the thread starter that stop posting in his thread. If someone can get clearer pics that would be great.

Or he doesn't know what to look for.

I think I've got it figured out, but I'm scared to screw up my cluster. I know enough about electronics to be dangerous lol. My take on it is that the stock tach needs the signal inverted. My quest to figure it out has been slowed by being able to read RPMs with my AVC-R. Maybe I'll get enough courage to reverse some wires and see what happens.

it involves connecting two points on the rear of the circuit board, close.

changing the + and - on a complicated circuit like this is bad.
there are diodes n such, and it even says in the repair manual and flipping terminals could cause perminant damage.
