1uz-fe swap?
anyone know if it is easy or possible to swap in a 1uz-fe&5 speed auto from a 98+SC400 or GS400 into a 1992-1997 SC400? How bout a 3uzfe from the GS430 and the tranny into a 1992-1997 SC400?

Going for the VVT-I motor I see?..... Anyway the motor swap mountings are all the same and the newer V8 engines will fit right in, but you will need the full wiring and ECU from newer 98+ motor installed as well... I had access to a cheap 98 vvti motor but could not get the ECU and wiring so I passed on the swap almost one year ago...
The 5 speed manual swap is a little more challenging but doable...there are many write ups on these kind of swaps on lextreme.com forums... The 4.3 liter SC/LS motors also bolt in as well... The 4.7 tundra motors are two tall and won't fit without intake manifold change or hood alterations... Good luck with the swap if you go for it....I think there is a 50hp gain with the newer 98+ motors from the earlier models....

well i meant the 5speed auto from 98+ I'd like to combine imho the better looks and lower weight of the 95&96 with the speed and power of 98+ while retaining stock look.
Ill be able to do all the labor myself. I'm just tryying to figure out how much the parts will cost and whether it will be easy rewiring the car. Will it be similar to just unplugging stock ecu, plugging in 98+ecu and then plugging in the harness from the new engine to the existing wiring? Will the other computers(like door locks) talk with the new ecu? maybe there are additional wires not on the current 92-97 cars so I'll need to rewire?
6.1-6.3s0-60 is fast enough for me and I've searched up the stats and 1jzgte sc300s dont really seem to be all thatm uchfaster than a 96-97 sc400.

This swap seems pretty complicated compared to the 1JZ. Our engine bays are crowded enough. THe 1JZ Idles, pulls and sounds just as smooth as the stock 1UZ. See for yourself....
1UZ VS. 1JZ
1UZ VS. 1JZ

what is the tranny on the automatic 1jz-gte? Also, wouldnt most of the tq be in the upper powerband since it is a turbo car? I'm not racing so torque low down for a daily driver would be more fun I think.
