I will also tell you this that I woud bet you money that it takes more power from the engine to run the Hydraulic Fan pump then the alternator or your Air Conditioner....and probably both together...

Now tell me if you go 0-100mph with your Air Conditioning on full blast and then without many times (punching it everytime) is it possible you can notice a difference? (butt dyno's are accurate?) How about an extra person in the car? Or exhaust mods, mufflers, headers, can you feel that? My butt is a little fat but I can still feel it.....

original thread with his documentary on how he did so.

I remembered reading this a while back. As for hp gains, I can pretty much assure you there are hp gains v.s. when the hydraulic fan is on. Oil/fluid is suprisingly thick. Race drivers always go dry sump to gain a lot more power. Wet sump like on 99% of cars creates incredible resistance form the crank going through the oil. Alternatively, using thinner oil will gain you some power too. I use 5w30 instead of 10w30. Wont gain me much power, granted and mostly hp at cold, but it is free and it is just that extra little bit.

Thanks guys, and yes that is the short version of my swap. I have a more detailed three or four page thread on that fan swap. I think it can be found under "flex-a-lite fan" or "Electric fan swap"....and this is on the Lextreme.com forum in the sc300/sc400 section I believe...I did this swap a while back....
