Default Intake/AFM Question

I want to put a cone filter on my SC400. I can get K&N Filters pretty cheap and was wondering if I could relocate my AFM, or take it out of the metal piece and drill a hole in the stock plastic tube or the new aluminum tube when I get one.

No, I've checked into that and your readings would be messed up unless you could compensate properly for it. The screen and entire setup is required for proper air flow measurement.

You can relocate the assembly however.

Would it be possible to relocate the whole unit to be next to the throttle body? Then it would be easier for a pipe.

In the meantime, until I get a pipe, I was thinking of replacing the stock airbox with a filter and shield. Does anyone have a diagram of an adapter plate to hook up the cone filter (I was thinking about one like the Apexi one from www.mkiv.com , but their site is down so I cant see how they made it).
