I dunno... But with the same 5spd tranny, I'd expect the ratios to be the same. They made a clutch type LSD for the previous gen Supra T, MK3, and that was a 5spd. I'm thinking this diff would work too, but I'm not sure. There is actually a MK3 Supra LSD on ebay now, somebody should snap it up and try it out.

The only real difference between the ge and gte block (besides the oil squirters) is there is a crank position sensor on the gte block. The gte head also has two cam position sensors that the ge head doesn't have. The gte head definitely wouldn't work with the ge ECU, since the gte head doesn't have the hole in it for the distributor.

If you do the 6-speed, you'd definitely want the TT differential also, since the n/a diff has a 4.27:1 ratio and the 6-speed is set up with a 3.13:1 ratio. The gearing on the 6-speed is quite a bit shorter than the 5-speed.

1 - 3.29:1 1 - 3.83:1
2 - 1.89:1 2 - 2.36:1
3 - 1.28:1 3 - 1.69:1
4 - 1.0:1 4 - 1.31:1
5 - .78:1 5 - 1.0:1
6 - .79:1

The MKIII differential case is waaay different, it would take a huge amount of mods to get it to work.

so basically in summary...
suck up the traction issues until you have enough $$$ to buy a 6-speed tranny and TTSupra rear?

I know Jeff told me the SupraTT auto diff bolts right up; but what about the manual diff? will that work too?

I ran the stock 5-speed for a long time at 480rwhp and never had any troubles with it. But I know others have broke theirs..... The TT auto diff bolts right up, you just need to change out the front yoke with the one from your diff. I ran that differential with the stock 5-speed and was very happy with it. The TT 6-speed differential uses different front yoke. I'm pretty sure you'd have to use the rear part of the TT driveshaft.... but I'm not 100% about that. I'm also pretty sure you need to use one of the tt half shafts since one of them is shorter than the n/a ones. Again, I'm not quite 100% on that.

I have a complete Japanese-spec Supra Twin Turbo motor, complete with wiring harness. I'll sell it for around $1,000. I spent $6,500 on orig engine and complete rebuild, then overheated it on first drive (insufficient coolant in the radiator). Rather than disassemble it, I elected to get another engine.

Lower end should be good, as well as the turbo... condition of the head unknown.

Jeff....think I should go ahead and weld the diff on my car? I used to do this on my old Nova's and stuff. Never thought of it on this car...but since you've done thise before....what'r your thoughts? Was it still driveable for daily uses? I tell you my Nova sure wasn't...of course I lived where there were a LOT of sharp turns...

Ya I would hate to destroy my block that soon. I figure this block should hold at least thru December before I blow it up. Same goes for the tranny....but I'm guessing it's not gonna last till then. You gonna sell me your injectors? You're pullin out the 440's right?

And if you know anyone that's got a 6-speed and the other crap I need for the swap (at a good price) I'll buy it off of them...

Damn. Hey wolfy....you don't "really" want that stuff....you need the turbo first.

Jeff...what stage is that clutchmasters clutch? I was lookin at the different ones, and they said the stage 4 sprung (4 puck kevlar) or 5 unsprung (4 puck ceramic) are likely the only ones that would hold the power I'm talkin about.

Lance won't answer again so I can't ask him...LOL

I would love to see someone call up Tilton and ask them to do a carbon-carbon clutch like in the recent Turbo magazine.

That thing is amazing! Its similar to the carbon-carbon units offered on the Supra TT. Those guys are cutting 1.6 60ft times and just powerbraking the clutch to build boost off the line by holding the e-brake and letting the clutch pull on the drivetrain until some boost is built... As the light turns green, they just dump in the rest of the clutch and go. Amazingly the clutch holds up.

The flywheel and pressure plate don't provide the friction, its just carbon disc on disc for the grip. Results are much larger surface area due to the twin disc setup, no chatter because there is no mismatch of frictional values of a carbon on steel plate as in a normal clutch.
