They drive it everyday as if the engine came installed from the factory. I know if your aiming for high hp 400hp+ your bound to run into problems here and there on any car, but I was just talking about 300-350hp to the flywheel. Maybe its just in my little world, but if I'm wrong then correct me.
Aren't we talking about two very different things here, dropping a stock 1jz into the SC versus doing a single turbo on the 2jz-ge? I don't know much about the 1jz, but say it gives you 250hp at the wheels. Any kind of a single turbo setup on the ge would start at that power level, even with stock fuel. I'm guessing even modest NA-T projects start out with between 300 to 400hp; many are much more ambitious. So, to approach the hp of a basic NA-T setup, you would need to swap in the 1jz and do a single turbo conversion on it, and the future potential of such a setup would still never be the same as that of the 3 liter. Don't get me wrong, I think 250whp is a lot more fun than stock, and the 1jz is cool as hell. It would be an efficient and cost effective way to do it, if us NA SC/Supras didn't have the benefit of the pioneering efforts by the gte guys.

Very well put cloudnine a stock 1jz swap can be cheaper than na-t. Getting 300-350hp out of a stock 1jz isn't hard. I'm currently running a bpu 1jz at stock boost(10psi) and it put out 272whp. I plan on going single I don't want to push the limits of the stock twins on the 1jz past 300hp. I've driven a na-t sc3 before and the torque is definately a plus with that setup. I also drove a 1.5jz with stock twins and it felt exactly like the na-t but with quicker and smoother boost . Having that option of swapping a ge or gte 3.0 block with the 1jz head also gives the 1jz some potential. It's definately a lot more work to do than a na-t kit. This discussion reminds me of the old sr20 vs ka-t war back when I had a 240. I see this turning into a big battle here but boost is boost anything but NA right

No need for a battle, the Soarer TT is a great car. Too bad we never got it in this country, or a GS250TT or IS250TT .

I would say that a NA-t SC and a 1JZ swapped SC should bring about the same money... A SC with a complete usdm 2JZGTE will almost always bring the most money.. Even if we are talking only a few thousand dollars... Now understand the few thousand dollars you again in value you will spend in the swap... Basically it will all come down to the buyer of the car.. But anyway I believe that the SC300s bring far to little money anyway.. You can pick up a high mileage SC300 for basically the same price as a honda, its crazy to me but thats my opinion.

But the overall reason I chose the 1jz over everything else was th fact my car has 150K miles on it and I bought my 1jz with 46K kilometers on it.. Those are proven documented miles from a supplier I deal with on a very frequent basis. The thought of dropping over 100K miles off was def. a plus for me... Plu I got a very good deal on it too...

wow... and to think all i wanted out of this was a little push towards what direction i wanted to take with my car

you all make valid points...

The other day I was at a buddies house. This chick pulls up in a f-150 lightning. She's my buddies neighbor. They chit chat and whatnot... apparently she just picked up the truck. Now a little background... this chick has no history or fast cars or general interest in automotive engineering/racing/horsepower/etc... so we asked her why she got that particular truck..... her answer "i think its cuter than the other f-150's" ....

she got raped for that truck... anyways... point of the whole story... it don't matter what any standard says... put a value on your car and wait for the right person who sees the same value to buy it (or find a dumb broad who thinks its cute)
