Default W58 to 6-speed Conversion

I've blown 2 W58's and I think it's time for the 6-speed. I cannot for the life of me find what parts I need for an SC300 W58 to 6-speed. Any help would be appreciated.

A search on here or Supraforums should get you your answer. But basically you need:

V160 (6 Speed) tranny
6 Speed slave cylinder (not 100% positive if you need to change this, can someone else help?)
shifter assembly
2JZGTE flywheel
Custom driveshaft or extended 6 speed DS
Rear end
Driverside Axle

You only need the Driverside axle if you're going to run the 6-speed rear-end LSD... (3.13 ratio). In that case, its better to run both 6-speed axles because they are beefier anyways.

Auto LSDs bolt right up with no mods other than swapping the mating flange on the snout of the pumpkin if you're bolting up to a stock DS flange.

Thanks guys! That's about what I thought. I will probably just keep buying W58's.

Have you considered using the R154 tranny out of the 1JZ Soarers and the MKIII Supras? They're beefy tranny's and Boost Logic is working on a kit. It would def. handle more power than a W58, but its not nearly as strong as the almighty V160.

Call Sean at RBMotoring and have him sell you a 6 speed core off of a Skyline R34 GTR. Slap a V160 getrag bellhousing in and walla 6 speed. I bet you didn't know that 6 speed core off the R34 GTR is the same as the V160/161. Have fun with this guys.

Default W58 Weird Noises

Hi y'll, I know I shouldn't be hijacking this thread and I apologize in advance if I did, but I also need to replace the W58 tranny in my 140K mi '93 SC300 that I just bought. I'm unboosted and will probably stay that way for now. I was also thinking of a 6-speed upgrade, but I could use some help sourcing parts. Depending on the cost, I'll either get another W58 or go for the 6-speed, but my real question is: What's the best way to fix my tranny without spending a fortune? My mechanic can R&R it in 2-3 hours, but he wants me to supply my own parts if I don't want to pay for a full rebuild. Thanks!
