Attempting headgasket upgrade on this newer engine. How did you all further clean the engine block surface after getting to this point?:

I've been scrubbing (wash rag + Laquer thinner) and scraping with razors the block surface for 3+ hours but there are still some spots that will not come off
...weird thing is the dark colored spots feel perfectly smooth to my fingers.

Dunno if this helps, but if the engine is out of the car, or can be removed easily, I'd just take it to a machine shop. It cost me $20 for them to clean of the old material and make sure the block was perfectly leveled.
