This happens quite a bit people. I think I will get a custom all-aluminum heater core made... not more crappy plastic end tanks.

old thread I know, but whatever happened with this?

it sounds to me like the evaporator core box is leaking condensation, not a heater core issue...

I was just thinking about this thread the other day. Contemplating to myself, ......would I rather do a heater core or a starter?

Yep, I'd rather do the starter.

You ever get this fixed or did you sell that car?

just wondering would using non-Lexus red coolent damage the heater core?
(as the greens stuff is more corrosive prone)

The main difference between the two is the lifespan of it... I use green and flush the system every 18 months... never had a problem...

97-SC300 - did you end up taking out the whole dash to get to the heater core? Was the problem the heater core? did you re-use the tubing that was there? How long did the whole job take and was it you and your dad like you had mentioned? Thanks!

How much do you think the heater assembly weighs? If i don't need heat is there a way to take this assembly out to save a few pounds?

Thanks

yesp, reused the tubing, took my dad about a day but he works with cars everyday in the shop so it was a breeze....the sad thing is that it ended up being the heater valve or w/e that thing is called it was located in the engine bay,. got a used one from aliga years ago.
