Default MAFs question

On the SC400 (MY95), does any happen to know what exactly the computer does when the MAFs is unplugged? What sensors/things it disables/enables, etc.

Reason I ask is I have a hesitation issue that disappears when the MAFs is unplugged!

The ecu goes into closed loop when certain sensors are bad/disconnected, a default mode that allows the car to operate with a preset mixture/timing.
You need to search for the procedure that allows you to view the "trouble codes" and see what that gains.
That is what I would do next; chances are your maf is bad, or dirty perhaps.
