Default whine? where is it coming from (yes i searched)

after searching and not finding anythin definite on the issue, i decided to make yet another "whine" thread for the SC. so i've come down to the problem being the PS pump or the Tranny accordig to the older threads. the symptoms of the whine is when i accelerate it whines according to the shifts. it used to whine randomly, now its more consistent and maybe more cause its getting colder. the sound never goes away, its there when started on park, when im accelerating, when im decelerating, and when im on brake. can anyone give me a definite answer on what the problem could be? if it hard to tell without a diagnosis i can fully understand, im gonna get it to a shop but just wanted an answer for now. thanks in advance if you can help....

PS- i have 118k on the odo

i kno wut ur talkin bout, when i bought my 92 sc400 there was a small whine, and the power steering pump was leaking, then my alternator went out and it turns out that the power steering pump is located right above the alternator. so ultimately i had to get both replaced, but regardless i would recommend putting a drip sheild over the alternator, that's wut im lookin into, just in case cuz they're a ***** to get to(alternator) so most likely the p.s. pump.
i'll keep u updated on a drip cover,

T

Default whine, me too

I notice a whine when I am backing up. Not when I put it in R but when I actually let off the brake and start moving. It just whines. Sounds kinda cool, really! I have wondered if this was normal.
