well at least you'll have more power should you do the 2jz. Faster than any 1jz.

but from what i've heard it can be more troublesome to get in and running.

well some issues that most people run into while swapping their engines is that they get the wrong "sump" location for their cars. so basically depending on what production year your car is, try to find a swap that applies to your year vehicle.

it would probably be a chore to find an odb 2 1jz, and if its found it would probably cost an arm and a leg for it.

but with an odb 2 1jz, onces your code less you'll pass emissions.

You guys are so gullible. There are plenty of us running around here in IL without worries. IL is not CA. Not to mention why would you go with 1JZ if you can turbo yours or go with 2JZ-GTE.

I have a JDM 2JZ-GTE motor (without EGR) running aftermarket (as in not Toyota) OBD-less ECU in a 97 SC300.

do you not have emissions testing there?

here in Nevada if you live in Las Vegas or Reno you are subject to passing the obd2 test, however, if you live outside Clark County or the country Reno is in, you don't have to have it tested at all...

We do only in and around major cities, but even then it's not the end of the world. There are ways to get around them.

Do you know hook ups? I might pull the trigger and buy this Sc with swap 1jz in it. But I don't know that kind of hook up for smog. He can't pass it legally in cali. Sorry for bringing back the thread Lol
