Replacing #2 transmission solenoid

Replacing #2 transmission solenoid
Are there any writeups for fixing this problem yourself, and any online parts stores that stock the solenoid for cheap?
I've never been one to use the dealerships so I'm hoping someone else can chime in on how they did this themselves, and how much it cost.
Thanks in advance.

The problem (code 63) is pretty common on the older SC3 and SC4s . The solonoid is about $170 give or take unless you find a discounted part.
You could just drain the tranny fluid, drop the pan, and replace it. BUT hold up...... It may not be the solonoid itself that is faulty. According to the FSM, Your problem may also be caused by a problem w/ the wire(harness) or a bad ECM also. To know for sure, you will need to check the resistance of the solonoid, check the wiring from the ECM to the Sol, etc .
If you plan to do your own servicing on the car. I would highly recommend investing in the factory service manuals . They're not cheap, but if you think about it. This one service alone would cost more to have repaired at a shop than the manuals.
Anyhow , good luck

raise the car
clean the exterior of the tranny
drain the tranny
remove pan
disconnect the connector from the solonoid
remove the solonoid mounting bolt
remove solonoid
then install the new solonoid( w/a new o-ring)
and torque the bolt
connect the connectorto solonoid
clamp the solonoid wire
Then reinstall the pan etc

I have the same problem.. i checked the code its number 63 which is solenoid # 2.... i also got a throttle position sensor code error... I am trying to locate the solenoid but the dealers are giving me the run around..... On alldata it seems that the solenoid is pretty easy to change.. ill try to get the diagram..
BTW is that supra wheels on your sc ?? they look great...how much does a set run ??
