Default Need to drastically quiet my exhasut..suggestions?

I have a Sc300 Turbo, with a full 3" exhaust, no cats and a universal muffler. I would say the muffler looks like what most MKIV turbo's have, something like a Blitz Nur-spec.

It's just way too darn loud, can someone recommend a quiet muffler that's the same style and a good resonator. I don't mind sacrificing some power, I just need to quiet it down by a good margin. I don't wanna waste money on just a little change, I want this thing quiet as I spend a lot of time commuting back and forth to work in the car.

Right now I would say that the car sounds almost like a turbo MKIV, but just much, much louder.

Thanks!

I've been looking to solve this issue myself. The best resonators are the oval ones problem is they only come on catback systems like greddy, tanabe etc and can't be bought seperately. A high flow cat will probably tone it down a lot also. Can u use a silencer on the muffler you have now?

On turbo cars, this is most definitely the answer... for some reason, a cat will quiet the car down considerably, without losing much power as well...

get a big *** resonator... borla, magnaflow sell them

or do what i did, i bought about 5 cans of undercoat, and spray underneath my car, inside my trunk, my back seats, door panels, etc, and that brought the noise level down inside the cabin.

a good resonator and ceramic coating your muffler + entire exhaust will really help kill the noise too.

Down here I don't care (nor do the cops) about noise, but a few of my friends have had good results adding Flowmaster resonators to their turbocharged vehicles and they are much quieter than using a straight-thru resonator. They have some interesting internals to the design of these resonators and my friend's don't notice any power loss.

Do you know which flowmaster resonators they used?

I found these resonators not sure how good they are though. I'm browsing other forums and this one to see if anyone used these.

This is the only photo I have of the one in question, but it did not have that inlet/outlet on opposite sides as with the one on the link you indiciated.

Get large Oval resonators, the fatter the more quieter they get...Also more restrictive too....I have 4 circular high flow resonators on my SC400 now and I still almost got pulled over by the police just last night for excessive exhaust noise... I was speeding as usual and got pulled over, the police officer said my exhaust was a little noisy and I was going 45mph in a 35mph zone....I said my speedo is off because I just put on smaller tires and rims on...The officer believed me and let me off with a warning.. I got lucky..

The one I used to use on my RX was the one just to the left of the Flowmaster I highlighted, but that nice shiny resonator on the far right is what I am using now. Much quieter.
