A GLITCH????? So you mean to tell me that a $50,000 - $60,000 car (when new) has a "glitch" that just causes it to shut off????
You need to find a new friend!!!
If your car just shut off, and then your engine light is in it means THERE IS A PROBLEM!

check engine light???
I am a Toyota TECH and what the person above said is true. YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!!! Is your car OBD1, OBD2? If you can't check your engine codes, pending engine codes, or history then I would suggest taking your car to someone that can, and sooner than later (not very safe. no P/S, brakes, etc. when car shuts off). Lets say your flying around a corner when your car shuts off??? Not a happy ending... most likely. If your car is OBD1 then you can check your codes yourself by finding the diagnostic port and using a jumper wire in the TE and E1 slots then count the pattern that your check engine light blinks and find out what it means!

I wouldn't think brakes. There really isn't anything in the system that should cause the car to shut down. Since you were coming to a stop I'm more inclined to start looking at fluid levels/leaks, loose hoses/sensors, things of that nature.

I'm not saying that the brakes are causing the car to shut off, I'm saying that when the car shuts off there's no vacum going through the brake booster and you loose the ability to use your brakes effectively! same with P/S when the drivebelt stops turning the P/S pulley stops turning thus loosing the P/S system. I was making the point that you shouldn't be driving around when your car is turning itself off! I told this guy to check his check engine light codes thats it!
