Default 1996 sc400 vacuum problem

Friends 1996 Sc400. It hesitates while taking off from a stop (sometimes). It hesitates while cruising at any speed, letting off the gas, and then giving it some gas again(all the time). No check engine light. One thing I did notice is that some vacuum tubes on the passenger side (goes to a black box) broken off. So I got some tubing lying around and some hose connectors. Connect the hoses back together. It still was hesitating. Anyone care to show me pictures of the vacuum lines going to this box? Maybe I connected something wrong. Would this actually cause hesitation?

TIA!

Dirty MAF can cause a hesitation like that.

I took a picture on the Sc400 I was talking about.

Number 1 in the picture was a tube that was cut off that I extended with a tube connecter. Number 2 is a sort of a cap/filter that connects to what I believe is the sensor (it was loose and still is), and number 3 is the other tube that I connected with a tube connecter.

Now I was looking at a picture of the same vacuum lines, and it looks like that the #3 in that picture has some different connection in between the tube (one side is black, one side is white). Could this be some sort of a valve?

Had the same problem with my SC 400, If you don't do something about it soon I will get worst pretty fast, I ended up getting all new hoses because of various vaccum issues

try flipping that valve around the best way to find a vac leak is with break clean if you spray an area and hear it rev up thats where the leak is
