I know that it's cost money to put in, but all the other people I've been talking to just tell me it's a waste to do. Just wondering if I should even bother.

LOL, who has told you it's a waste of money to put a twin tubocharged motor in your lexus to replace your NA becides your mother?

I speak from experience, the 1JZ swap is worth it, and I completed the swap, on a sunday afternoon and drove it monday afternoon. Do some research you guys, come on.

it IS possible to swap a 1jz + R154 5spd into an sc400 right? I haven't seen any sc400's on this forum that have done this, they've only done the auto swap.

Yes, If you can fit the W58 you can fit the R-154.

There are a lot of search options and info over at other forums, From searching here I have found that it is a lot more costly for a swap In a SC400 because the motor mounts, oil pan and some other parts do not line up right giving you major fit issues. I used THE SEARCH button! You new cats never want to take the time to look! Thats why a lot of members give you a hard time. Also you might have trouble mounting the tranny in the 400 because the area is not as deep as the sc300. So get ready for a bunch of custom work and major $$$$ Thats pretty much why I went ahead and just bought an sc300 for a 2jz swap and put my sc400 up for sale. (2jz is much better for higher power goals!)

This is totally untrue! The Soarer 1JZ motorset is completely a PnP swap. It's just as easy in a SC400 as it is in a SC300. Every bolt and mount lines up perfectly. Just extend the bady harness and everything else is easy as cake. I've removed the 2jz-ge and installed a 1JZ in under 8hours. The 2JZ-GTE swap is just as easy but rewiring the body plugs make it much more difficult. Check www.Clubna-t.com for more info.

BTW. The 1JZ can make as much power as the 2JZ. If displacement is an issue then use the GE block with the 1JZ head.
