Good stuff. I've posted nearly 45 DIY's over 7 years and this one is one of my fav's. I'm going on 3 years with no issues.

PS- just incase someone thinks they can plug the valve openings and go..... it won't work. I tried it.

The fluid blows the caps right off even when zip tied. Here are the two outputs with rubber caps. This does NOT work.
Just for info, if your switch isn't broken (not leaking PS fluid) then this method works. mine never leaked any fluid and was operating fine, I just didn't like it messing with the vacuum, and it frees up a nice vacuum port on the manifold for sensors, so I did exactly this method (2 vacuum caps) and it seemed to work fine.
I don't think boost is very good for this valve, so I would disable it either way.
If your switch is broken (leaking fluid) then yeah, It probably won't work as OLT suggested.
His is definitely a more permanent way to go about it.

Ya, should totally hold just on air. The fluid leak and the pressure behind it is the problem with a faulty switch.

Very good post thanks for the info, This will possibly save me two issues on Sheila...
My salute to you on this very informative post.

PS leak fix and broken or bad vac lines.

Just to clarify this mod will only increase power assist at high RPM so if I am driving 70 MPH the steering is super light meaning my muscles are too strong.

other than that at idle is normal?

How do I remove those components though, I don’t think I’d have to remove the whole power steering pump. Yet when I try to unscrew the bolt that holds the piece that the power steering air control valve is screwed into a plastic piece connected to the pump itself turns as well. If I do not need to remove the whole pump, do you know how big of a wrench I need to keep that plastic piece from moving while unscrewing the main bolt?
