i say exit on the right, one being because if you have any passengers, you dont want them to get too annoyed (im not sure it would make toooo big a difference)..

Here's a general rule about single exhausts - it's always on the opposite side of the fuel door. So for SCs, the fuel door is on the right - which means that the exhaust should exit out on the left side. This has to do with how the fuel tank is designed and how the exhaust balances off the weight in the rear. Also, flow from the exhaust side (right side of the car) diagonally straight to the left side is also a much free-flow setup.

I voted for a passenger side exit but, after looking under the SC300, where I now have a single 3" going out the right side, I must say that I was wrong. The straightest path from the downpipe would be almost diagonally across the bottom of the car to exit on the driver side; more bends are required to bring the pipe out the passenger side. So, I know what I'm going to do when I upgrade my setup!

the fuel tank is nuetral in the trunk for the sc and also the fuel lines run on the driver side.... do you really want your exhaust running next to your fuel lines yes i know there are hard lines and a heat shield. and flow is better on the right look at my pics...... my engineer did this for me i like the look on the left too but safety and functionality first. there are like only 2 bends in my exaust and they flow nicely.

If you have stock exhaust there is already a muffler on the left so... I've never searched but I've never heard of an sc muffler ignite a fuel line. Weather that be the stock dual, or after market dual exhausts, Threadgill's 9 second white sc had backfire with no immediate visual consequences.
