Default Report: Replaced Transmission mount on 13 year old car

Problem: Whining, vibrating, clunking transmission

Solution: Replacing your transmission mount

Where: Lexus Dealer

Cost: 190 dollars including parts and labor

Result:

- EXTREMELY Smooth gear engagement. Almost feels like my car has a CVT.
- Shifts at higher RPM
- No more rattling/whining noise at idle
- No noise in extremely cold weather
- No more play/clunking in the gear when you step on the gas then let go and then step on the gas again.

Did your shifter rattle before you replaced the mounts?

The shifter itself, no. The vibration came from under the car initially, then when it got worse, the differential box in the rear started making noise.

The thing is mine rattles regardless of if i'm breaking or not. It rattles the most at high speeds actually.

Wow! they charged you 190 for a tranny mountchange? i did mine in 20 minutes, the hardest part was jacking up the car and the part cost me 50 bucks ... definately worthwhile

Haha, i know... it could've save some money if I did it myself.

But...

- No lift
- No garage
- Sub zero weather
- Snow
- Lexus offered a loaner RX350.

So, all things considered, i am happy.

Where can i come across this shifter bearing? Also how much they run for, and how hard is it to replace?

nice, it's a fairly simple thing to do if you want to save on labor!
