My 1JZ swap
#92
I ordered the one for the supra mk3. The y pipe will work but the downpipe is going to take some cuting and welding. Im waiting to put that on till alittle later. The stock downpipe meeting the stock exhaust perfectly was just too good to mess up right away.

very inspirational guys.
thanks for the posting. my 1jz project will start in 2 wks. gettting all the loose end parts. my plan is 2 stages. 1 just get her running with stock boost, then 2 going single. did any one use the stock w158 tranny. if so i don't remember whats need to bolt to 1jz. also for the sc300, does it matter weather the clip is from a soarer or supra--front sump or real sump?

So after more than a month of doing the swap I finally made it home to finish up the few little things to make it drivable. This week I did
-Installed new throttle cable (mk4 tt supra) is correct. I got the wrong one at first
-installed soarer fuel pump
-installed boost and water temp gauge
-installed radiator
-fabbed up fmic and piping
-fabbed up some heater hoses
-drained and filled r154
-relocated battery to trunk
Here are a few pics of the intercooler setup. I will get some more of the other things later on.
hotside
coldside
bumper clears nicely. Piping is behind bumper and sc400 lip (sits pretty low)
The piping is all ebay special 2.75 inch with the appropriate couplers and t bolts. I just chopped up and fit it all together piece by piece. I plan on having it all tig welded here real soon so i can loose all the couplers!!
test drive time
As of now I need to figure out the NO POWER issue. ( I started a separate post about that) I went on my first drive yesterday and lets just say.,.. i was sad haha

hey i have one quick ? for you. did you use the elictric or manual temp guage. and asuming you used the electric one did you just splice into the harness?
and one question for everyone. i thought i saw a thread (and ive searched) that said there was a camery throttle cable that could be used instead of the mk4 cable.
blair the wap looks great, good luck withthe power issue. i have an extra ct12 if the turbos are your problem.

At least you got the hardest part done and it looks like you guys did it right the first time--
Nice car--
Nice swap--
Nice goin--
I'm definitely jealous, but I see a lot of potential with boostin the 1UZ in my sc4-- 8 lbs with a pair of GT28rs's should work well and be cheap to build--
It should be torquey--
