Default Fuel Tank Pressure...

I've noticed that the past 3 times I've put gas in my SC4, when I unscrew the gas cap, there is no pressure releasing at all, no hissing or anything. Before, when I unscrewed the cap the pressure would almost push the cap off itself. Is this a problem or maybe just weather related? I haven't noticed anything else wrong, I did get a faint smell of gas the other day when I turned the car on with my door open, smelled unburned but I might be wrong. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have heard a lot of people on CL say you should buy a new gas cap, I suppose it is an update or just new, around $16.00.

The car will check to see if the fuel system is intact. It will pressurize the system and check for leaks. If there is a leak found it will turn on the "check engine" light and store a DTC in the ECU. Log and short of it. No light, no problem.

"No light, no problem. "

Thank god for sensors and other thing-a-majigs.

I think I'll buy a new gas cap just to be safe, from what I've read it can help with gas mileage, makes no sense to me but my wallet might appreciate it.

Is there a way to clear the code?

Pull the EFI fuse for about 30sec. This will not work on 2002 and newer if I rember correctly.
