I think the real problem is poor thread fit from the factory. My 14mm line wrench slipped on my line nut as well, just wanted to be sure you knew they were avail. Heres how its going to go. With a good fitting wrench on the filter nut, use your vicegrips and get a 1/4 turn at a time like your life depends on it. Then when you get close to the end gas will begin running down your arm the remainer of the 5 min. of removal. While the gas is still pouring you carefully start that nut straightly into the filter nut and 1/4 turn it until it stops leaking ,careful not to oversqueeze the line nut and ruin it. When your done and life has resumed as normal, get some shop rags and mop up the 2 gallons of gas and wash arm. You might want to do this outside so as not to blowup garage, pref. under carport.

Even with a flare wrench it is easy to round the connector, and I ended up using a vise-grip and a pipe wrench to get it off. There are other threads about this issue and one of them describes to process of cutting the lines and patching in high-pressure rubber lines instead.

wow. this day was pretty crazy.

started at 9am finished at 1:30. for a fuel filter.

after about an hour of going crazy on the fitting, it finally budged. but it took another 30 min to actually get it out since it was EXTREMELY rusted and it was not wanting to come out. finally got it out, gas everywhere mind you.

go to put the new one in. the rusted fitting isnt going in. 1-2hrs of trying, twisting tugging etc... i finally came to the conclusion... it was not going in.

i jerry rigged it to stop gushing gas everywhere, went to advance auto, got a 1/4 NPT / 3/8 fitting, 1ft of 5/16 fuel hose, 2 clamps. i took bolt cutters, cut the metal line about 2 inches back, and got the hose on, clamped it etc. stopped leaking, car runs.... AWESOME

but the whole time i kept oiling my arm with wd40 to stop the gas a little.. but god damn it... you lay in gas for hours, you get chemical burns! my whole left arm is twitching, red, burning, and making me miserable.

all for a fuel filter

i was having the same problem with my sc400 .i rounded it up ,tried a visegrip no luck ,monkey wrench no luck .all i did was pour half tank of gas on my driveway but i was thinking you can probably remove it by putting a monkey wrench on the fitting and using a wrench on the filter (other side) of the filter .if not jus buy a new line at lexus

Or for fun sakes, take it to the dealer, tell them i need my fuel filter changed. and through the windows peeep at them swaering profanities trying to get it out. It would be worth the $70.00 lool

FYI. I tired changing mine on the 2nd SC I had, once I saw the steel lines where bending, I was like screw it.
