The V160 is the Tonka tough 6 speed trans that comes in the MKIV Supra. It's one of the best transmissions ever put into a sports car.

The R154 is a 5 speed that went into mant Toyota trucks, and a few cars.

Sometimes better known as the Getrag 6-speed. Although Getrag is a German transmission company it's become synonymous with the Supra 6-speed (V160).
The R154 is a transmission that a few 1JZ compatible cars were built with (Soarer, Chaser, MKIII Supra.)

I didn't know someone was building turbo manifolds for the UZ engines. This is gonna get interesting.

It could get interesting, no doubt. The best part is that the manifolds are built to be flexible meaning that either twin or a large single can be run. We're building it for guys who don't mind getting their hands dirty.

I believe that the V160, along with a GS rear end would be the perfect combo for the 1uz. The car would be a whole lot snappier with a 6 speed rather than a slushy auto.

Off the top of my head, it looks like you've got a good handle on what's needed. You'll need a driveshaft and preferably a GS400 rear end with the 3.26 ratio. Those are inexpensive. A new clutch master cylinder, pedals, 5 speed console, etc. With our adapter the hard part is done. We can provide an adapter that lets you bolt the transmission directly to the V8, and a clutch kit that is also 100% bolt on.

Thanks again,

Eric

This is the best thread I've seen on this site yet. Nice work c0wboy! Why do you recommend the GS400 diff instead of the Supra?

Bacause it's a 3.26 ratio, and the auto Supra LSD apprently fits directly in. It's a great ratio for the V160, and is very cost effective. The MKIV Supra turbo ratio is 3.13 :1.

We have the Sc400/V160 adpaters ready to go right now, and have less than 15 to go around.

You should post a few pics or link of your V8 you have posted on supraforums. That thing is badass.

We should have some pics coming up later this week assuming that the CNC stainless V-bands arrive. MVP will be running a group buy as soon as we have pics of the manifolds in the car and on the motor.
