Topic title says it all.. "What are simple DIYs if you think the SC is burning too much gas than normal?"
I just drove about 35 miles in the city and already lost close to a notch of gas...and plus gas prices are going crazy once again...$3.25 here for super!!

I just installed a SAFC I i got for $80 and tuned the car with a wideband to run a tad bit lean. lets see if I save gas... it runs more responsive and it felt faster too.
Prior to that I also changed the stock mufflers (restrictive) to staright flow ones.

I didnt read the thread title carefully before I answered but, as mentioned try seafoaming your engine
check your catalyctic converter if it is clogged
check tire pressure
clean your air filter or do the BFI mod

I always run premium. I never planned to run regular. Stock compression is I think around ~10.5:1? I dont wanna risk engine failure due to knock. Just do a simple tune up. It should help with your gas mileage and keep off WOT. Keep your car light too. Me, I changed the seats, took out the spare and tools and replaced it with a can of fix a flat.

just run the right stuff (premium)... you figure, even if you fill up a bone dry tank (20.5 gallons), the difference almost always is .20 / gallon, so, $4 difference on a COMPLETELY empty tank... When you're already spending $50-$60, the extra $3-$4 is worth it for premium (the car really does run better with it)...
as far as DIY... air filter, air pressure in tires, don't carry too much crap in car, watch your own driving habits, drive with windows down instead of a/c (moreso for around town, on the highway, this doesn't matter as much due to aerodynamics), then... of course, your basic tune up type stuff - oil change, plugs, wires, caps, rotors
