Default CEL Help.

ok today when i started my car after only about one minute of running it threw a CEL, i went to work and it came up as P0116 Engine Coolant Temperature Range/Performance problem. and after looking over at the possible problems i think it may be a bad Coolant temp sensor. anyone ever hear of this kind of problem before on their SC? would anyone have anyother clues as to what it may be? i was thinking thermostat but it would not throw a code at the first minute of running. any help would be great.

i'd go after the temp sensor first, i know on audi's espically older ones, they will throw that code if the t-stat sticks open, the ecm is retarded and thinks the temp sensor is not working properly because the engine does not heat up all the way because of the stuck t stat. i've been bit by that mistake before. an easy to make sure is to warm up the engine and using an external thermometer sure the rad hoses get to operating temp. i think its like 180 ish?
