Im not sure where you got this info at but 2jz guys DO NOT take 1jz heads as an upgrade. A common myth that seems to never die is the 1jz head or the 2jzge head flows better than the 2jzgte head. That is just plain false.
Yea you're right, there was another round of 1jz vs 2jz battles on SupraForums recently. A 1jz head needs to be ported and polished to match the flow characteristics of the stock 2jzgte head, so obviously the 2jzgte head flows better out of the gate. As far as the 2jzge head flowing better than gte ones I'm not sure but who cares lol. My 1j is fun for now.

I concur. I have read a number of long and lengthy thread on Supraforums about this topic. Most recently, someone had the heads on a flow bench. While the 1JZ-GTE and 2JZ-GE heads flowed better at low power levels, the 2JZ-GTE head is clearly superior for high horsepower applications.
This makes perfect sense. The 1JZ-GTE and 2JZ-GE were made with narrow pasages to flow low velocity air more efficiently. The 2JZ-GTE head was built to be boosted hard as the head has wider passages to flow high velocity air more efficiently.
The "1.5JZ" is essentially a way to get some extra dispacement when you blow your bottom end. I would think the number of people who put 1JZ heads onto 2JZ blocks would be countable on one hand. The number of people who put 2JZ blocks on 1JZ heads would be much higher in number.
