I paid $100. It has no grinds and all of its gears, with ~100k miles logged.

Regardless, it should be plenty to hold the 350whp I will be asking from it.

JZZ30 Trans conversion
I posted a while back that two parts will be needed in addition to a more swan-necked shifter assembly to convert the tail section of the MKIII Transmission to work on our SC. Carson Toyota can get the parts for a hell of a deal (Housing, Shifter [33521-24040] $16.00, Control Shift Lever [33570-24010] $60.00).

My issue for a good 6-8 weeks has been trying to locate a supplier that carried the JZZ30 short shifter for the first iteration of the JZZ30 transmission. I finally stumbled across OO Parts International. They sell the JZZ30 early version C's short shifter for $280 shipped to your door via EMS. This is a hell of a deal.

At the moment, I am a JZ bellhousing sway from having pulled off a successful trans conversion with a short shifter. Considering the JZZ30 R154 with the stock shifter goes for ~$1200 on the open market, I would say this is a hell of a deal:

$100 - MKIII R154 Transmission
$76 - Genuine Toyota Parts
$280 - C's Short Shifter
$300 - JZ R154 Bellhousing (this is a price estimate)
-------
~$750 for a transmission with a short shifter capable of holding 700wtq that bolts right into our cars.

I believe it is common knowledge, but the front section of the MKIII driveshaft, when swapped onto the rear section of the SC driveshaft, will allow union between the transmission and differential. I got mine with the transmission for $50.

1UZ Trans Conversion Parts
Lextreme member SuperRunner has a stash of 1UZ flex plates and a machinist that welds the ring gear from them onto an R154 compatible flywheel with the 1UZ flywheel bolt pattern. He sells one of these flywheels for $315 shipped. I believe they are cast steel and weigh 18-20lbs. His offering this product has allowed me to bypass the Australian R154 conversion kit which would cost $4-500 to ship to this country.

In the states, the TTC Performance adapter plate is the only option available to allow the bellhousing from the R154 to meet up with the UZ engine since Toyota never made a manual UZ engine. I took the plunge and ordered one this Friday. The adpater retails for $750, but it still beats the crap out of getting the R154 kit from Australia and getting hammered with shipping costs.

As for a clutch kit, the Lextreme R154 flywheel and TTC adapter plate allows for any R154 pull-type clutch kit to be used. I was able to get a SPEC Stage 2 kit (full face Kevlar friction plate good to 460ft*lb) from Supraforums classifieds second hand, but brand new for $275. This clutch will hold all that the stock bottom end will handle and do so in well-mannered fashion.

General MT Conversion Parts
This is where I am lacking in parts. I still need a clutch pedal/cylinder assembly as well as a MT brake pedal. I also need a shift **** and lower shift boot. For the boot in the cabin, I intend to cut my auto shifter bezel to suit the manual shifter and custom make a leather boot. Regardless, these parts may be hard to find, but at least they are available somewhat readily in this country...at the dealer in the worst case scenario.

Supercharger Parts
Lextreme ran a group buy for their supercharger mounting plate, and I participated in it. A fan bracket from an LS400 is required, but Lextreme offers that for under $100, making the cost tough to beat. The bracket is drilled to accept a Vortech V1/V2 blower, but it could easily be drilled to suit the Powerdyne blower that I favor (for its cost, lack of reliance on drilling oil lines, and inability to outblow the bottom end).

For now, the Supercharger project is on the back burner. If I stumble across a deal like the Lextreme bracket group buy, I will take it. Otherwise, my energies and moneys are focused entirely on acquiring every last 5 speed part. My car is slated to go up on stands for the trans conversion in January.

------------------------

Having ordered ~$1500 of these parts only recently, I am going to wait until everything arrives before I start cluttering this thread with photos.

I'm not sure what the cost at the dealership would be for the visible boot
but

$50 for the whole thing, trim and leather sounds like a deal to me
hardly worth spending the time to make your auto piece work with a manual trans
but of course, you probably want to keep your seat heater switches

My car did not receive the "Cold Weather Package" from the factory, meaning neither seat heaters nor traction control are on my SC.

For much less than $50, I can easily stitch up a boot that will look just as good as the OEM product. In addition, having so much Soarer garb on my car already, the "Lexus" emblem smack dab in the middle of the boot surround is a bit counter-productive to the overall theme of the car.

Right now, my wish list stands at a JZ bellhousing, clutch and brake pedals, a clutch cylinder, and a shift ****. In the meantime, the UPS man should be stopping by almost daily to drop off the list of goodies I recently purchased.

Blizzy,

You are the man! I can't wait to see you pull this off!

Can't wait to see your supercharger go in!

A 5speed, supercharged SC400, with an 4.27 LSD, super rare!

Here is a mild update.

Primarily, I am wanting to take this chance to show off the C's short shifter for the R154 trans conversion as it arrived today.

Parts In Possession

C's Short Shifter for the Early Version JZZ30 transmission

SPEC Stage 2 Kevlar Clutch Kit (460ft*lb capacity)

Lextreme S/C Bracket

LS400 Fan Bracket required for the Lextreme S/C Bracket

Parts Awaiting Shipment

TTC Performance JZ/UZ Transmission Adapter Plate
R154/UZ Flywheel
Pulleys for S/C Bracket and LS400 Fan Bracket
Genuine Toyota R154 Trans conversion parts from Carson

There are still parts that need ordered for the R154 swap, but I am getting very close to having everything. The S/C project is on the back burner, but the research for that project is taking precedent at the moment since my R154 parts list is damn near licked.

I am most happy that my C's short shifter arrived. It was such a critical part to making the MKIII R154 transmission work with the SC.

Nice work bro..... I have been thinking about TKO600 or the T56. Sure beat the V160 for the price. Brand new T56 or TKO600 for around $2,200 and a used V160 for the same price.
