Getting a 6 speed will cost you 5-6K new, I'd rather go with boostlogic tranny for less than 2K.

depends on your power level desires. the W58 manual that comes in the SC300 is good to about 400wtq. The auto in the SC300 is less durable. A six speed costs a ton (~$4k+), but it will most likely be the last tranny you will ever need. Boost Logic's auto rebuild is a good value at ~$2k. But, that rebuild has had its moments.

what do you mean by "has had its moments"? was it just tough to do or couldn't hold the power?

If you're going na-t or 2j swap and don't greatly exceed 400 whp/trq you don't require a 6sp.

The six speed swap is anything but easy, simple and especially not inexpensive. They are in demand and there is a limited supply. You could find yourself spending close to $6k or more on this plus you'll need the rear end and that not in that price, (LSD is going to be another $~1 - 1.5k as well. Your going to spend the same on the 6sp as the turbo. So you got wallet?

You need to spend some more time reading posts on this topic, its anything but new and there is a ton of info on your direct question here, clubna-t.com and supraforums.
