Default Grounding issue??????

Putting this here since I'm unsure if this is engine or electrical related.

Came home from a weeks vacation and the car battery was dead. Jumped it and it started no problem. BUT, I get this noise when the key is turned to on. Either something is shorting on a ground, or arcing from a plug wire or something else entirely. It does stop after about 30-45 seconds though. Here's the link to the video. I'm gonna get in there and see what I can find but was curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. The car is an SC400.

Quality is crappy since I did it quick from my cell.

Thanks for any help.

Mark

If anyone checks this thread, and knows of a good custom made grounding kit for the SC400, please post.

That totally sounds like a solenoid saying "bah Bye"

I made mine....I got pictures emailed to me of where the grounds are supposed to go, and just got some good amp wire and ring contacts...took about 40min of cutting crimping and connecting.

Arrrrg - Nerocity, brother PLEASE post those images.. the higher the res the better. I have been trolling ebay since October of last year looking for set of 1993/4 year shop manuals as well as literally scouring the boards here looking for actual IMAGES of where the ground points are (and even better again the recommended ground points for an after market or DIY grounding compliment)

Pretty CRAZY please!

yah... if it sounds like the starter doesn't disengage, then definitely solenoid...

it might just be lazy from not starting for a while... I'd keep trying it and see if it doesn't go away...

The car starts, just hear that clicking for about 15 seconds. clicking happens even if the car is running.

Where exactly is the solenoid? Attached to the end of the starter? Do I still need to get the intake off to replace the solenoid? Most of the motor is apart, up to the upper intake now but if I don't need to go further all the better!

To answer my own question, I notice TM engineering, a sponser of CL says they have the only custom ground kit for our cars, you have to e-mail them for pricing.

I ended up cleaning the contact points and the issue seems to be solved for now. Pretty grimey back there after 15 years and 200,000+ miles!
