i'm using stock 1jz injectors. I plan on doing the 12v fuel mod tonight as well as checking my ignitor

I'm also interested in this. As I will in days be doing my swap, it seems like a common issue and would be nice to nip in the butt. But, I do have a question. Are none of you guys getting any codes? Could it be a loose or bad injector plug? If its leaning out it only seems feasible to be fuel related.. less ignition would cause a rich condition.

The culprit was my igniter. Keep in mind the 1j igniters are VERY VERY fragile. i popped the cover of my igniter, and lo and behold, there were metal pieces disconnected from their perches. I soldered them back on with rosin solder, and the car runs great, just like new. I even put electrical tape all over the igniter to cushion it a bit.

Hope I helped.
i popped open the 1jz ignitor and found that the ignitor is filled with some kind of clear gel. can you explain how you solder the perches thru the gel?

dg53c, that's probably just vaseline(patroleum jelly(spelling error)). Just remove, solder, then reapply.

my only code is 52 or 53, i forget.
650cc injectors.
I bypassed the fuel pump ecu, and it only helped up to ~4k.
But my problem is slightly different.
I was boosting with minor problems here and there for the past year, now my car leans out when spooling. It doesn't have to be 4k, but rather whenever i build boost. Since it is LEAN, i'm thinking fuel delivery, although since the narrowband O2 sensor is early, and the wideband is late, curious if it is rich, and then burning in the exhaust...but i can't hear it? so iunno.

I'd love to check for a boost leak, but i have no means to.

I would stay out of boost till you get that fixed, you run a great risk of blowing the motor.

Vaseline ???? are you kidding me ??? Toyota was not trying to keep the ignitor Lubed they are keeping it cool. That is what the gel is for. Nissan uses the same thing. Don't tell people stuff if you have NO CLUE.

Im having the same problem at 3600 rpms as soon as boost start and IM also running power fc.

never heard of battery terminal corrosion, have ya? lol
it was an educated guess, based off what he said.
never heard of a jelly coating on electronics before. . .although clear coats I have.

Sorry, never talked about Cooling Gel in any of the heat tranfer courses. . .

Yes I have heard of Battery corrosion and the reason you can put Vasiline on that is because its on ONE terminal(polarity) not a bunch of circuitry.
If you are taking a course on heat transfer maybe you should take one on flammability. Petroleum Jelly is Flammable

I'll just come out n say it. . .
Thx ****
i'm not pro, and i went on a hunch from what i've seen.
After all, I'm not Electrical or Automotive engineer, i'm Mechanical...and they teach generalities in the class, not specifics. I've already graduated...no more learning for me, so i'll leaving flaming to the people who love rainbows as well. I didn't consider the jelly being conductive, nor the probability of a spark or extrememe heat within the ignitor.
i will say i find it frustrating to have some random guy shoot me down on one of the rare days i felt like posting in multiple topics and try to help. I said "probably" in the post, because i'd never heard of something like he described being used other than that for electronics(other than the clear coating that use to prevent grounding, but that's not a gel).

but this forum doesn't really appreciate help, which is why i never finished the 1jz swap thread, even though i do believe i was the FIRST to use a W58/R154 combination shaft and post about it to help others. For some reason, nobody else thought to measure the two and count the splines.

as for the power fc, Iunno what is wrong with them...I use to be able to hit like 3500, now it's 2700...sure if i put it back on it'll be even lower, but that is why i am trying to find out what this mysterious brown wire is in another thread, because maybe it is throwing the power fc off.
