Default air intake heat shields

ok so ive been thinking about this thing for the heat shields.. well most people who have heat shields use prolly aluminum or some type of sheet metal. metal likes to get hot overtime..

so i was thinking.. can you make it out of fiberglass? knowing that fiberglass is an isolator itll keep cool better then metal yea? also fiberglass is pretty easy to work with.. it just iches and burns when u breath it in ... shoulda been wearing a mask..

so yea what do u guys think?

Fiberglass would indeed be better. I use a lot of PVC in my intake piping (the stuff you can't see on my RX), but have been toying with the idea of heat shield made out the stuff (since good fiberglass, not el cheapo, is hard to find here).

I can see imperfections in the materials, not smooth or level areas. Usually there are some specialty groups that make the higher quality stuff here.

No, these aren't sheets. There are dudes that you can go down here that can fabricate stuff, problem is that after looking at some of their work, you can tell they used shoddy material.

It depends on the type of fiberglass...get something too thin and/or cruddy material and it will have issues over time.
