I honestly think these days, in the era of BIG power tuner cars, that people are a little deluded in their understanding of HOW MUCH power that 1200whp is. You see a dozen Supras making over 1000whp, tons of Vipers, etc and people begin to lose their grasp on reality.
Unless you're making a drag car, then 1200whp on the street isnt all that controllable; almost impossible. Making bigger power at lower rpm levels makes it even worse actually. And if you ARE making a drag car, then "low-end torque" (myths abound here!) doesnt matter much. Spray a 150shot off the line in a high-stall auto for a little extra gimme while you leave the line with 20psi+ of boost.
By "low-end torque" I realize you are referring to more power production in the lower rpm-band since torque by itself is just a scalar of force and has absolutely no value when not applied over time. And that in the spirit of wanting low-end power, you are planning on it being a streetcar. Please refer back to the previous paragraph.
Not saying a big Toyota V8 with TT making retarded power isnt a good thing... I'd be an idiot if I was like that But I'm just questioning the reasoning here. 600whp and a fatter powerband? Hell yeah, thats a good reason, hell even 800whp, but once you start getting towards 1000 (even 800 is pushing it), it becomes much much less controllable on the street unless more drastic measures are made.

The crank is covered in oil, so any little thing floating through the air sticks to it. I assume you're looking at the journal. Also the crank is cam ground, meaning that the crank is heavy balanced by removing material from the counterweights. I suppose that how the little nick go there on the counterweight. Cam grinding the crank means that a lot less mallory has to be used, and that saves a ton of weight.
