Metal head gasket

Metal head gasket
I was wondering if a metal head gasket would be beneficial on a stock GE motor......I am thinking in terms of longer life compared to a stock gasket. I am waiting for the head to be freshened up and I can put a MHG if it will prevent future gasket problems. The question really is whether a MHG will be more reliable than stock gasket?
I searched the forums and there were a couple of very good threads but could not really find the answer to my question.
PS - I saw a thread that said stock GE gasket is .3mm. In that case a 1.2 mm MHG (thinnest MHG i could find on the HKS website) will lower compression. How should that be tackled? Lower octane fuel?

for a stock motor? a stocker is perfectly fine. (even high hp gte's run the stock one). Pretty much there is no reason to run an aftermarket metal one other than to help deal with high pressure situations(along with head studs).

No one upgrades the stock GE gasket if they want to retain the same CR because the stock gasket IS metal.
I have two of them sitting in front of me. The one I pulled off my car and the extra one I got in a rebuild kit that I didnt use. Stock GE headgasket = metal.
