Headers and Mid-pipe or No
#4
I voted no bro. I don't know why, but i just did. I figure the engine has that many miles, drive it out stock for right now until it dies completely.
Then when you put a swap in you can add the headers and such into the project and you won't have to pay the extra installation fees .
Just my opinion on that.

it depends on your plans for when the motor actually dies, are you just gonna drop in another GE motor or are you going to do a gte swap, if GE motor then you might as well get the headers, if you are doing a GTE swap then save your money

Well my planes are for a 1j, but thats when she goes, i think its will be one of my last mods to the GE, but i can get them pretty dam cheap, well i guess will see how my next pay check looks .

I've been toying with the idea of putting headers/midpipe on to tide me over until my turbo kit is complete.

How well has the basic maintanance been kept up?
If so, I vote yes on the header and midpipe if you dont plan on doing the swap for a while...... The GE engine should last quite a while longer if its been kept up.......230K is starting to get up there, but if maintained at all, you should get another 100K mi or more on the GE .
Hell theres several people going NA-T with 200K+ miles with positive results. (The key is having a sound motor, and the basics covered first)

i was between making my own, by jsut cutting out the pre-catt, but i dont think ill have time i was looking at the OBX headers and y-pipe also, they actually look pretty good, worst case scenario sum extra welding is done and weld flash is removed from the inside and possible re-surfacing the flange.
BTW project is put on hold for a few weeks, my steering rack bushing gave out completely and now i have 1/3 turn of play, not good.
