How tall is a 1UZ-FE?
I just got my hands on a 2UZ-FE (it needs work but it's all there). I would like to know how tall a 1UZ-FE is from lowest part of the sump to the tallest part of the intake. If this works out I will have a new project car. Supercharged 2UZ powered SC400???

I am curious to see if/how the mounting of the engine will work on the stock cross member.
I would love to do a 2UZ n/a project one day. The stock 5400 redline doesn't scream excitement. But, a rebuilt head with super aggressive cams on a stroked bottom end might be able to scream to upward of 7000 with a ratchety idle and gobs of torque everywhere.
For your inquiry, I would PM KC95SC400.
KC owns an SC400 and as a Toyota tech has had extensive experience with the 2UZ. He may even be able to get you a measurement on his car vs. a Tundra/Sequoia that he gets in at work.

Thanks. I have the block at the machine shop and am going to start porting the heads soon. There will be NO Toyota ECU's on this motor. I want to see just how far I can push it. No fly-by-wire. I have a Q45 TB to make it cable driven. I may have a old TRD supercharger to bolt on as well. I'm torn, I don't know if I should put this motor (when done) in a SC400 or my old 85 celica??? All I want to do is take-down my LS-1 friends. Thank god I work for Toyota.

Does this mean that the Q45 throttle body allows you to bypass the electronically controlled throttle system?
I would think that a large iron block motor would really destroy the weight ratios much more significantly on the Celica than the SC. Obviously, the Celica has a giant engine bay for the overall size of the car, but I would think that the SC is more suited for such an engine.

from the bottom of the pan to the crank centerline is 9.06"
from the crank centerline to the top of the highest point on the intake area is 14.96"

Thank you. Thats. what I need to know.
As for the celica....It would be fully framed with a cage if I do it. The rear will be a 9” with a 4 link. If I do put it in the celica it will not be just dropped, I will mod the daylights out of it. I'm thinking 500+hp in a car that is 1500 gvw or less......

2jz sc,
What year 2u do you have?
The measurement I gave you (30 inches + or -) was from a 2uzfe in a 2006 Tundra. This engine has vvti and the plastic intake manifold. Don't know if the vvti and manifold affect the height or not....probably not a big difference.
I think the V8 powered Celica would be awsome. You should check out Lextreme.com if you haven't already. Likely the best source of swap info you'll ever find.
How close are you to Huston? I have a freind there who works for Gulf States Toyota who would probably be more excited about your project than you. He's both a big Celica fan and a uz fan.

The 2UZ i have is a 04. No VVT-i. I'm going to run a LS6 MSD ignition system. 8 coil packs and fly-by-cable. I'm looking at a lS1 ECU just to hold my fuel program. Still thinking about a TRD supercharger. Lets see how many rods I can sling out of this motor.

I have seen 2 or 3 run without oil for a while (newbie lube techs). In one case, the lubie forgot to fill the oil in a Tundra, customer drove around all day, came back complaining that the oil gauge wasn't working. Put oil in it and shipped it.
Needless to say, the uz motors are strong.
The only common problems with 2uz's (NA) that I can think of off the top of my head are 1) the exhaust manifolds are known for cracking 2) the transmissions behind them occasionally grenade 3) the rear main seal boss occasionally, for no apparent reason starts pissing. Other than that, can't think of anything.
