I really have to disagree with the 3" dual on a stock-soon-to-go-single 1JZ.

Standard exhaust flow conventions:
(1) 115 CFM / square inch of cross section
(2) 2.0-2.2 CFM / horsepower to prevent choke

3" pipe, including .040" thickness, will yield ~770 CFM given the cross-sectional area. Even at 2.2 CFM/hp, that is 350hp of choke-free flow from a 3" pipe. Dual 3" piping means 700hp of choke-free flow.

Conventional exhaust wisdom says to go with the smallest pipe that will not choke. This allows the most efficient flow of exhaust gases at the low end when gas velocity is slow while still presenting no choke factor when exhaust gases are flowing most rapidly.

On a stock-so-to-go-single 1JZ, I would stand firm behind a 3" single as the flow level that would be more appropriate for the power level of the engine. Going too big, you will be unable to generate the flow to realize the power capacities of a given pipe diameter.

Obviously, if making noise is the primary concern, then my argument is entirely moot.

I don't think that really matters on a turbo car, since the turbo creates all the back pressure.

I am changing my soon. It will be 3 inch piping to a catalytic converter, to a y pipe, with dual 2.5 inch piping into mangaflow 14829 mufflers.

I am looking at adding a single turbo to my 2JZ-GE motor (NA-T). I am only wanting like low to mid 300hp at the wheel. I want a dual exhaust setup, would I want to stick with dual MagnaFlow 14829 with a 3in DP to 2.25in all the way back. Or would dual MagnaFlow 14835 with 3in for the entire system be better ??

Got my piping at a truck store for ~$200. Vbands were another $200. Ceramic coating the entire exhaust (inside and out) another $200.
