MR2 to SC300 swap?
I read that the TOM's (or veilside?) Toyota Supra uses the MR2 engine otherwise known as the 3JZ-GTE.
It was used because it weighs considerably less than the 2JZ-GTE and the 2JZ-GE. Plus it pumps out enough hp to keep me satisfied. Just wondering, what the potential costs would be to carry out a project like this and if it would even be possible?

possible...sure...how much money ya got?.....the weight savings is minimal for a street car......now when your talking about a full race car where every lb counts...mabye its worth it?.......but a turbo kit on your stock motor will more than make you happy...trust me...Jeff

Yup Jeff is right...
You're not going to run 80psi like they do on that top secret motor dude... if you want to spend $10k just to say you're satisfied and so you'll lose 50lbs of weight; then go for it... it would take another $20k-$30k to get to the point that top secret's motor is at...
but then don't cry when you get slaughtered by bolton Toyomoto Stage I turbod SC3s that cost half the price you put into yours

well if you're aiming for some serious horsepower... go find yourself a nice condition 92 5-speed... buy the toyomoto kit and you'll be happy
92s can be found for usually around $8k-$9k or so in good condition... a toyomoto turbo kit will run you about $5000 or so...
for $14k or so you can have a potential 11 second car on your hands...
don't forget the clutch!

5spd can handle about 400rwhp.......some have had there 5spd at as much as 480rwhp but i kept popping mine at 440 rwhp....the 6speed swap is the best option....the auto will hold 12sec 1/4 miles with only a shift kit......Jeff
