just got in from a lonely evening with the car

nah bobby had to work but im not one to sit on my *** when things need to get handled. Spent today criss crossing tampa bay picking up random parts and supplies during the course of my work day. Got a new 94 2jz-gte throttle cable which is long enough but i suspect that since this swap was an auto theres a difference in the brackets on the intake manifold. I added fresh oil, checked the coolant level and started to think up a way to atleast get the car running. With a few fingers snaps

....she was alive and running...purring like a kitten

so i made sure to call bobby who was in bed sleeping when he answered he asked....hey whats that in the background *vrooom vroooom*

few notes from today:

airbag light is on - unsure, will diagnose
no tach signal - will be addressed
coolant temp guage on high - will diagnose
coolant leak - diagnosed as bad seal
starter wiring issue - will be addressed
throttle cable mounting issue - may have to fabricate custom bracket

considering this our first Lexus/Toyota swap we arent doing too bad, friend who owns the shop where we are working on the car was quite impressed to see that in the day he stepped away the car went from having no engine to having everything in and ready to go. Had a bit of an issue with intercooler hoses but thanks to some clever use of 1 coupler and 2 sections of aluminum piping its all good to roll....yes the car is running an oem soarer side mount simply because its my belief that bobby should pay more attention to the vitals before blowing his money on bling items. A front mount would be nice but a supra LSD rear end would be more important or a speed cut defender or a walbro 255....etc follow?

anyhow ok im entirely too tired, time for bed. night guys

ive never been a read and learn type, im very hands on...have always wanted to do a 2jz SC300 just havent found that right SC yet. Been working on cars since i was 12 and have enjoyed them as long as i can remember so naturally i try to keep myself occupied with car related activities weather im making a buck or not. In the end what i hope to accomplish with helping bobby is to demonstrate that there are good hard working kids like bobby out there who are as passionate about the hobby as some of us here, that there are still people out there who are willing to help a fellow enthusiast in need and that a Lexus doesnt have to get old and boring without a midlife update to make it more current/interesting.

Good friends are hard to find no matter what age, something ive been telling bobby a while now but im the type that gives everyone equal opportunities as i dont discriminate against anyone myself. This fall/winter i think bobby maybe getting his hands dirty with another swap

everyone ive approached has been pretty friendly but i made sure to warn bobby that asking too many questions/getting annoying will shut alot of doors so we've been operating on the do what we can do and if we cant figure it out we'll ask. I suffer from OCD when it comes to workmanship so my attention to detail is very high. I'd like for bobby to be able to pop his hood with confidence that even the most discriminating eyes will not find many if any underhood flaws with the swap. So far the starter issue and the lach of cluster readings are the only two major questions we need answered. I'll look that person up.

Cannot stress how thankful we are for people like;

Donny
Taka
Nori
James @ Race Related
Jay @ Driven Concepts
Jeff @ Turbo Toys
Gearhead Performance
Jim Brunst @ Lexus of Tampa Bay

just to name a few who have offered tips, guidance and or help. Not advertising just letting everyone know that we appreciate what they did for us

Awesome Dan. Only thing that scares me is the coolant hose so close to the fan. But obviously it seems like you know whats going on I remember you from QSL. Time for you to get an SC, lol.

On Sunday, I may come check the car out Bobby, ill give you a holler if your not busy.
